Simonb Good news. From other recital pieces you've played I expect this will be a top notch video, so it seems right for it to be at the top of the list. 🙂 I'm aiming for the last place because I have the least playing experience - last and least is going to be my mantra here. 🙃

Well done. I intended to record my version nearer to the go live date but there is a (small) chance that I may purchase a different piano tomorrow and ought to consider doing it earlier whilst still owning the upright.

Well it is an 'interesting' version as I really couldn't settle on one particular way of playing it, and actually ended up playing the melody in a completely different way today.

There will certainly be more disciplined and musical performances than mine, that much I guarantee!

I'm slowly getting there too, probably another week until I can try a recording. As usual, I moan a lot about how hard it is and then somehow manage to learn it after all. I know rsl can relate to that, because I gave him many earfuls about probably not being able to learn the duet at all, get it done before the deadline, etc 😃

I know how you feel. Sometimes I wonder why we put ourselves through doing these recital submissions, it can feel like more trouble than it's worth, but when I look back at all the pieces I submitted over the last 18 months they provide evidence of the progress that I've made, which is nice to have. 🙂

Yes, agree. It's nice to see my own progress, but even nicer to see that of fellow beginners. We're all in the same boat and understand the struggles and feelings of "why do I even bother" 😃

I noticed some additional benefit as well: it forces me to polish pieces to near-perfection. That was one reason why I stalled in my piano learning once before - I'd gloss over each piece and after a few days I'd think it was "good enough" and moved on the next, and the next, and the next. It wasn't before long that I found myself tied into a knot that I couldn't get out of any longer. I quickly found out that there is a lot more involved to actually learning a piece... thanks to the recitals.
Recording yourself is such an eye opener!

Today I have been able to make an acceptable recording which could be the last one ever on my little Kemble upright. I will however try to make improvements before submitting it.

I expect those 3 pictures are very funny, but just for info I cannot see them - instead a message says "Content not viewable in your region" Anyway, I'm pleased that you've got your version finished, I know it was quite a tricky arrangement so you probably grew quite tired of working on it.

I'm hopeful that I may be able to get a reasonable video done if I put another few days of work into the piece. I will not be using the tablet - I'm absolutely done with that thing, it's annoyed me for the last time! It will either be kept as a spare tablet for my husband (because his is several years old so might break soon) or I will sell it to Cash Converters. Job done! The relief is immense. 🙂

Same here in UK

Apperantly Imgur decided to block UK users instead of complying with UK regulations or paying a fine: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c4gzxv5gy3qo

Personally I find the regulation heavy handed but also suspect Imgur is not very innocent.

Sorry for all UK users, but most (if not all) images were hosted via imgur; it is just handy as it is directly connected with our forum software... copy&paste - ready!

WieWaldi Don't worry, it's just one of those things. It seems that Imgur prefers to block UK users rather than meet the regulation standards (which concern protecting children). I can imagine that it's difficult for tech companies to keep up with regulations, but in this case they do seem quite important.
