Most recently, I bought a few On-Stage MS7701B stands from Sweetwater. Affordable (thirty-something bucks these days), stable, easy to use, no problems with the adjustable parts (no sticking, stripping, etc.). They have some variations (with or without booms, round base vs. tripod, etc.) to meet your needs.
For tripods, I've bought a few cheap camera tripods from places like Walmart and Target over the years, they alway seemed fine, and I use them for my Zoom recorder, screws right into the mounting bit.
