This reminds me of what a critic wrote after a very young Horowitz's Hamburg performance of Tchaikovsky Concerto "When it was all over and the piano lay on the stage like a dead dragon".

Even the much better examples of piano bookcases I've seen, while amusing and attention getting, are not something I would want in my home. To me they mostly look strange.

I'm always on the lookout for pianos in listings too. Even in the last few years, I feel they're less and less common.

Maybe more houses are being staged, and nobody's gonna cart out a piano for that?

I hadn't thought of that, but good point! You can always tell when a house is staged, the furnishings are generally cliched and generic.

ShiroKuro in that red designer armchair there is no one to sit! then everything looks expensive, and suddenly there is a cheap wooden bench...I love this thread!!! For me this photo is the best! it has everything! we could rate it!

The stained glass (?) doors/windows are interesting too! Not what I'd want in my own house, but it's neat to look at!

House with windows with musical motifs and a typical glass piano...important statue of a virgin in the corner that watches that you don't change the fingering of the piece.

That's the kind of thing I would LOVE to see and play...in someone else's house!

But I will admit, I was probably closer than I should have been to getting a custom finish...like a really dark blue or purple or red...

There's no way it would match with ANYTHING in my home of course, and would probably have made it impossible to move into any normal new house 😃

I totally get the appeal! But yeah, we have to be practical!

I have surrounded my shiny black piano with all kinds of colorful art, so that worked out well. 🙂

ShiroKuro The wood floor and piano are nice but the rest of the room is not at all to my taste.

pianoloverus yeah I didn’t notice the curtains but now that you mention the room … those curtains are kinda yucky!!

pianoloverus I have to agree - the floors are nice. The piano has beautiful legs but it’s not my favorite style. The price would only get you a 4 bedroom tract house in much of California, though. That looks like a fairly large home.
